Hi! I’m Alexander. I like going on adventures and learning new things, and I’m very happy to share my explorations with you.
I’ve been to 31 countries, traveling by air, sea, and land. I’ve danced in the rain in Switzerland, haggled over taxis in Ethiopia, and fixed cars in Kazakhstan. I can speak functional little bits of French, Japanese, and Russian.
For money, I’ve driven trucks, stocked shelves, written eBay listings, and run the floor at a quick lube. For pleasure, I’ve played the violin, climbed mountains, and throttled up to 145mph. I spend a lot of time with my family, and probably need to get out more.
As a kid, I was into engineering and Legos, making art and movies, playing outside, and making music.
As a younger teenager, I was deep into martial arts, doing wrestling, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, karate, and boxing. I wanted to be a UFC fighter!
As an older teenager, I was deep into politics. I wanted to change the world! This had some unsavory consequences when I grew into a full-fledged social justice warrior: “change the world” turned into “burn down the West at all costs”. Those days are thankfully behind me.
After high school, I had no long-term goals. Big mistake! I went to college, studied history, and dropped out after two years when my mental health took a gnarly turn. I got a job at Valvoline Instant Oil Change, where I rediscovered my childlike love of machines. Two years later, I quit and rode a motorcycle from Scotland to Kyrgyzstan.
Now I drive around bringing little brown boxes to people’s houses, and pray for borders to open, so that I can finally achieve "Scotland to Japan".
The adventure continues! If you would like to be part of it, you can sign up for weekly email updates (never junk) at the bottom of the page.
